In July 2005, Yamaha celebrated its 50th anniversary by running its Moto GP racing team in its traditional racing colours, instead of the livery of its sponsor, at the US Grand Prix. This model was released at the same time to mark the occasion.
Apart from the change of colour and markings, there are a few detail differences between this model and the original version. There are a few minor mistakes where changes have been made, which indicates that the modifications were done a little hurriedly. One had been fixed by April 2006; the others remain, but are of very little importance.
